Installing all NHS Trusts in a SHA
All of the benefits that accrue to multi-hospital chains
will also be received by installing the CostFlex
Patient Level Cost Accounting system in all the acute care
Trusts and Specialty Clinics in a SHA. A single
instance of the CostFlex software would reside in one of the
Trusts and be accessed by all the others using the internet.
The savings that result from a regional installation could
be enormous and long lasting. For example, best
practices will be uncovered and used as a benchmark to
assist the others to improve:
- the most and least efficient Consultants region wide
for each Specialty will be identified
- the most and least efficient Trust for each HRG will
be identified
- the most and least efficient ancillary department
will be uncovered
- consolidating practices with low efficiencies with
highly efficient practices will promote savings
The PCT's and the SHA itself will also benefit.
- patient choice will be enhanced greatly leading to
region-wide waiting lists
- practice based commissioning will be based on actual
savings calculated by the system
- reference costs for all Trusts will be quickly and
accurately prepared each year with a minimum of staff
- locally negotiated tariffs will be based on actual
costs
